An Application of Successive Interference Cancellation to Pseudolite Navigation Systems
Woo-Guen Ahn,

In a pseudolite navigation system (PNS), the navigation signals near the receiver are received at high powers while the navigation signals far away suffer degradation in signal quality, which is the near-far problem. To minimize the near-far interference in PNS environments, we apply the successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme to the receiver algorithm. For the performance evaluations, we use the logged samples of the pseudolite signals received in the receiver. SNR improvements by SIC technique are investigated via simulations for the logged samples. In a PNS using SIC, the improvements in terms of the coverage extension are studied. Finally, the effects of SIC algorithm by the estimation errors of the dominant pseudolite signal are investigated.
