New Navigation Signal Design Using Tiered Polyphase Codes

New navigation ranging code using Tiered Polyphase Code (TPC) is proposed for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). New navigation signal structure is composed by pilot and data channel which are orthogonal each other. Pilot channel code is TPC and data channel code is binary code such as gold and kasami code. In receiver, code acquisition and tracking are performed in pilot channel and carrier acquisition is performed in data channel. Simulation results show that the signal acquisition performance of proposed navigation signal is superior to that of the Galileo E5a-I under weak signal and large doppler shift conditions.
