Base Station Location Estimation Based on LTE Signal Propagation Characteristics and Measurement Reference Information
Seong Yun Cho, Chang Ho Kang

The location information of the person requesting the emergency rescue is the most important key to determine the success of the rescue. The LTE signal information obtained from the mobile phone can be used to estimate the location of the person who needs the rescue. Fingerprint technique using RSSI information among the LTE signal information is under study. If location-based LTE signal information collected in the service area is constructed as DB in advance, it is possible to estimate the location of the caller using the DB in case of emergency rescue request. However, it is not easy to build a complete DB in a large urban area. That is, the shaded area of the DB exists. In this work, we aim to construct DB for shaded area of DB. To do this, we first study the method of estimating the location of the base station. As the signal transmitted from the base station propagates through the air, the power of the signal gradually decreases. This property is modeled on a parameter basis. And we propose an algorithm that estimates the location of the base station by using the location-based signal information and this model. If the location of the base station is estimated, it is possible to estimate the signal information in the DB shaded area based on the signal propagation model and the estimated location of the base station. This allows additional DB to be built in the shaded area of DB. The performance of the proposed base station location estimation technique is analyzed through simulation.
